A rare sulfur-rich variety of sodalite known for its unique optical properties. The mineral is renowned for its property of tenebrescence (or reversible photochromism), meaning it can change color when exposed to certain types of light, such as UV light or sunlight. When exposed to UV light, the purple color might intensify or change to another color, and then slowly revert to its original color in the dark.
